My Opinion for Natuna Conflict

Hello .. let me introduce my self. My name is silki

So for this time, I want to share my opinion about conflict which is still being debated between Indonesia and China in Natuna sea. Based on information that I read before, the problem in Natuna sea has a lot of history. Starting from 2016 until 2019, the newest conflict is about a number of foreign fishing vessels owned by China enter to Natuna sea, Riau Islands. These activities violate the Exclusive economic zone and carry out illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities.

In my opinion this problem must be followed up. Previously, Indonesia itself had taken firm steps to follow up on the violation. But apparently, there are still happening and this time the violator has a certain reason that makes him feel free to pass through our area without worrying about breaking existing regulations.

Our regulations regarding border areas are good and strict. Supporters and files regarding the regulation also exist. So, if we just showing it to the recalcitrant "offender" is not effective. In addition, if you just give a warning letter, it will also be ignored. We need some meeting for two parties led by a neutral body to discuss the issues related to this as well as the establishment of real and clear regulations so that no more parties are disadvantaged. The stipulation may be in the form of a declaration or the signing of a regulation which has been agreed by both parties.
And for Indonesian government, we must still warn about this problem. resolve this case thoroughly because it is a pity if we have clear regulations but inferior to the defense with unclear basis. Do not let what has been fought by previous people to be in vain.

Currently, I’m studying as a sixth-semest er student in Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University. In addition to my study, I also learn to dive. More precisely, I learn to be a scientific diver. So I don't only dive to enjoy sea views but also to identify marine creatures like coral, fish, and macrobenthos. The information that I collect is used for scientific reports.  My hobby is photography, so I joined in two student organizations (Fisheries Diving Club (FDC-IPB) and Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan (HIMITEKA-IPB) to helping out with their communication and documentation work. I also could do underwater photography if needed. I want to be a marine conservationist someday and join marine or nature organizations like WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), ...
