Summary Sharing Session with Mr. Sandeep

Mr. Sandeep Beepat or we can call him sandeep is our sharing session mentor in this november. Now, he study at Victoria University of Wellington for his doctoral degree majoring in Marine Science. Sharing session start at 5.00 o’clock WIB and that was my first sharing session in early morning. Cool because for me, I affraid to wake up late but I didn’t (because I didn’t sleep hehe). Ok, my first impression to Sandeep that he has an indian face and look like smart indian people such as an actor in the sci-fi movie. And the truth is he actually a smart people. He said that he study about sponges, more precisely he focus on how climate change impact to tropical lagoon sponges. It’s an interesting observation I think because in here, I also observe macrobenthos too and sponges include in it. So, when he told us about sponges I undestand. In Indonesia, not much observation about macrobenthos especially sponges. Project about macrobenthos not as much as reef fish or coral reef where sponges as I know that it’s an animal who live in a colony. We can see this animal everywhere because this animal can live in every condition. So, when sharing session I asked some question to Sandeep just about sponges. I just want to know that why he interest to observe about sponges and how he done his observation.

Sandeep told us that he ever been in Indonesia for work. He also went to Bali for holiday. He told us about his experience when he in Indonesia. He also was travelling to other country too. Believe that he can speak in many language. I forgot how many language that he can but when he mention it I just speechless and think why he can do that? I’ve been trying and practice about english language since I was in elementry school untill now but I can’t speak english well. This problem not only happen to me. Adam and Bertha also have some problem like me. That’s make us to asked more about. Sandeep said that the key is just keep going to do and slowly. Don’t worry about anything just try and try. He also have same problem like us before and he can get over it until now. What’s make you can speak foreign language is because you do it everyday. So that, you get used too. You can watch news or something that use foreign language. Manage your time to improve your language by speaking with that language. You can ask your friend for speak english together to improve your skill.

This sharing session motivate us to trying improve our language. For me, I was dreaming about I can speak english, japanese, germany and so on. But, If I just dreaming about it and not try to improve that maybe it’s just a dream. I want to reach and achieve that. Now, I motivate my self and try searching for how to learn foreign language by my self.

Currently, I’m studying as a sixth-semest er student in Marine Science and Technology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University. In addition to my study, I also learn to dive. More precisely, I learn to be a scientific diver. So I don't only dive to enjoy sea views but also to identify marine creatures like coral, fish, and macrobenthos. The information that I collect is used for scientific reports.  My hobby is photography, so I joined in two student organizations (Fisheries Diving Club (FDC-IPB) and Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu dan Teknologi Kelautan (HIMITEKA-IPB) to helping out with their communication and documentation work. I also could do underwater photography if needed. I want to be a marine conservationist someday and join marine or nature organizations like WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), ...

#3 Diver corner : Macrobenthos identification methods

Pengambilan data makrobentos Hello gaess, welcome back to ma blogg uhuyyyy Oke udah lama gua gak nge post lagi di blog hehe.. jadi untuk post kali ini gua bakal membahas mengenai metode pengambilan data makrobentos. Hah? Makrobentos apaan tuh? Tenang dulu .. kita bakal bahas satu persatu jadi santuy aja ok? Masih belum kebayang hewan-hewannya seperti apa ? coba kita lihat gambar berikut : I...

#2 Diver corner : Basic Sea Survival - How to survive at sea

Salah satu teknik Sea Survival (Sumber : Dokumentasi Fisheries Diving Club - IPB) Welcome to my blog gaiss...
